In a nutshell

Small-to-medium-sized MPPT solar charge controller, 100 V and 30 A, for 12 or 24 V batteries. It makes use of up to 880 W of panels at 24 V. Ideal for a small 12 or 24 V system.

How to read the two numbers of an MPPT

• Input voltage: this is the maximum combined voltage of the panels connected in series. Take into account the Voc (open-circuit voltage) of your panels: for example, if a panel has 50.6 V, only one fits, but two in series add up to 101 V, more than this device accepts. On cool mornings the voltage rises a little, so you must leave some margin.
• Amps: this is the maximum current the controller delivers to the battery. The panel power it makes use of comes from multiplying this current by the battery voltage. That is why, if possible, it is worth working at 24 V: the same device delivers twice as much as at 12 V.
• If more panels are connected than it can handle, the controller simply does not use the excess (excess power does not damage it). But you must NEVER exceed the input voltage: that does break it.
• This model does not work with 48 V batteries.
