In a nutshell

Small-to-medium-sized MPPT solar charge controller, 100 V and 50 A, for 12 or 24 V batteries. It makes use of up to 1,400 W of panels at 24 V. Ideal for a small 12 or 24 V system.

How to read the two numbers of an MPPT charge controller

• The input volts are the maximum that the panels connected in series can add up to. On cool mornings the voltage rises a little, so you must leave some margin.
• The amps are the maximum current the controller delivers to the battery. Multiplied by the battery voltage, this current gives the panel power it can use.
• If more panels are connected than it can handle, the controller does not use the excess (excess power does not damage it). But you must never exceed the input voltage: that does break it.

That is why, if you can, it is worth working at 24 V: the same device delivers twice as much as at 12 V. This model does not work with 48 V batteries.

About this model (100 V · 50 A)

Take into account the Voc (open-circuit voltage) of your panels: for example, if a panel has 50.6 V, two in series already add up to 101 V, more than this device accepts. More panels can be connected in parallel without exceeding 60 A of short-circuit current.
