What is the electricity cost per kWh in Punta Cana?
The CEPM reference rate in Punta Cana and Bávaro is RD$ 22.90 per kWh, a single-rate tariff: one price per kWh, with no separate demand charge. Your exact rate is confirmed on your electricity bill, which we use to assess your solar and battery system for self-consumption.
How long does it take for solar panels to pay for themselves?
As a general rule, about 4 years. This depends on your electricity bill and is not a guarantee. To calculate the timeframe for your project, we review 12 months of electricity bills, then size a solar and battery system for your property.
What size solar and battery system do I need?
Your system is sized using 12 months of electricity bills. We offer single-phase and three-phase inverters from 2 kW to 2,000 kW; solar panels from 1 panel up to 4 MW; and batteries from 1.2 kWh to 9.6 MWh.
Is net metering available for these solar systems?
We do not use net metering in the eastern region. Our systems are 100% self-consumption systems with batteries and send no power to the grid. You use solar power and energy stored in your batteries on your property, with the goal of buying less electricity.
Will my solar and battery system work during a power outage?
It depends on the configuration. A system with a Victron inverter, WeCo batteries, and protected loads can continue operating. Grid-connected solar panels alone shut down when the grid goes down. Whether your property’s loads continue to operate depends on how your system is configured.
Can solar panels work for a small hotel with 50 to 60 rooms?
Yes, we serve small hotels with 50 to 60 rooms with solar and battery systems for self-consumption. Your hotel’s system is sized using 12 months of electricity bills. The goal is to use solar and stored energy to reduce the electricity you buy.
Who supplies electricity in Punta Cana and the surrounding area?
Punta Cana, Bávaro, Verón, Macao, and Uvero Alto are in the CEPM service area. For Punta Cana and Bávaro, the reference rate is RD$ 22.90 per kWh as a single-rate tariff. We review your electricity bill to confirm your property’s exact rate before assessing your system.
Can I get assistance in English?
Yes, we provide service in English on WhatsApp at +1 809 998 1120, as well as in Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Russian, Dutch and many more languages. You can write to us in your language and share your electricity bills so we can assess a solar and battery system for your villa, business, or small hotel.
Can Punta Cana’s solar radiation tell me how much my system will produce?
PVGIS estimates, from satellite data, about 2,105 kWh/m² per year on a horizontal surface. That figure describes the solar resource, not the electricity your panels will produce or a measurement on your roof. For an installation tilted 20° to the south with 14% losses, the estimated reference is about 1,690 kWh per installed kWp per year. It is not guaranteed output: we study your roof, shading and system configuration to estimate your case.
Are the batteries and inverters prepared for Punta Cana’s sea air?
Yes: we use WeCo 16K0 batteries, fully sealed and coated with marine paint, and Victron inverters prepared for salt air, humidity and heat. The inverters were originally designed for installation on boats; Victron has been in business for more than 50 years. This equipment is designed with your property’s coastal conditions in mind.
Can I monitor my system remotely?
View your system through the powerful Victron VRM platform or the WeCo NOOR app, depending on the inverter system brand you choose.
Are you certified by the manufacturers?
Yes. Victron Energy certifies SUSEINCA as its direct factory representative for the Dominican Republic, qualified to provide support and preventive and corrective maintenance (letter dated November 11, 2021), and WeCo accredits SUSEINCA as its authorized representative and technical support provider for Latin America (letter dated October 9, 2025). Both official letters are publicly available and linked on this page.
